Flight-Proven Command and Data Handling Solutions for Diverse Spacecraft Mission Needs

Magellan’s command and data handling (C&DH) subsystem is a compact PCI-based system with a dual-string architecture consisting of an operational unit and a cold spare. If a fault should occur, the C&DH unit manager will initiate an autonomous non-recursive switchover to the redundant string. Magellan’s C&DH was developed for the CASSIOPE mission and will be flown on the RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM) and an upcoming deep space interplanetary mission.

Magellan’s scalable power control unit (PCU) is capable of meeting power needs up to 3 kW. The innovative “by the slice” design allows customers to choose only the mission-specific functionality and level of redundancy required, thereby optimizing mass, power, and volume. Enhanced functionality merely requires additional cards. Magellan’s PCU was developed for the RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM) and has been selected for an upcoming interplanetary mission.

High-Performance, Reconfigurable and Radiation-Hardened Processor Board

Magellan’s FPGA-RPP (FPGA-based Reconfigurable Processing Platform) is a high-performance, reconfigurable, and radiation-hardened processor board.  It is designed for the radiation environments of highly elliptical orbits, geostationary orbits, Lagrange points, and interplanetary missions. Its innovative architecture allows the RPP to correct single event upsets while processing for critical spacecraft or payload tasks. Integrated fault detection automatically allows tasks to migrate to the redundant processor without a hard reboot.
